This beer is a master blend of our finest barrel-aged beers held in reserve and released in honor of the Black is Beautiful program, a collaboration project started by Weathered Souls Brewing to raise awareness for the injustices People of Color face daily. All the proceeds from our release are going to the Michael James Jackson Foundation, which “funds technical education and career advancement for black, indigenous, and people of color in the brewing and distilling industries.”
For this release we went deep into our vault to put together the best blend possible. The oldest liquid in our Black is Beautiful Double-Oaked Imperial Stout aged on Vanilla Beans was brewed in 2017. That robust Imperial Stout, started off in bourbon barrels, forms the basis of the extreme depth of complexity for this stout. It was blended with rich, chocolatey, younger stout, and then aged again in Irish Whiskey barrels, mingling together for another year. Then we tank-aged the beer for six more months on pounds of vanilla beans for a powerful vanilla top note.
